Learning to massage your baby is a wonderful way to bond with your newborn but it offers so many other benefits too!
I provide a comfortable, warm and calm space for you and your baby to experience and learn the massage routine, either in a one-off session or come as and when you like – no need to commit to a 5-6 week block at a fixed time.
First of all, I’ll spend a little time getting to know you and your baby, identifying any issues that you may want to address so that I can better guide you during the massage session so you know which techniques will be most effective.
The room will be warm and cosy for baby’s comfort and when we’re ready to begin the massage instruction, you will need to undress them as far as the nappy.
We’ll get set up comfortably seated at the massage bench – ideal if getting down to the floor is a bit of a struggle. It’s important that you are relaxed so we'll spend some time getting settled.
I will then describe and demonstrate the techniques using my massage doll while you follow along giving your baby a wonderful experience of your nurturing touch.
I provide the massage oil – either the Neal’s Yard Remedies Baby Massage Oil or I can make something specifically to suit your baby’s needs.
There will be time after the massage to ask questions and recap any techniques you’re not sure about.
As soon as you are ready. The massage routine is ideal from birth onwards and I teach up until baby is no longer willing to lie still for the session.
In the session, we will go through the full massage routine. If this is all new to you, you may wish to book several sessions to gain confidence with the techniques, and I offer incentives for booking multiple sessions.
We can discuss this at your first appointment. The benefit of working 1-to-1 over going to a class is I can focus entirely on you and your baby and address any areas you need additional support with.
I provide the massage oil and a towel for them to lie on but please bring a blanket or something warm to wrap them in after the massage, spare nappies in case they need a change before you leave and baby wipes.
You might want to wear layers of clothing yourself as the room will be warm for your baby’s benefit and it’s important you remain comfortable too.
Absolutely! It is a wonderful way to bond with your child and create a sense of security for them.
If you have friends with babies of a similar age and you’d like to learn together in a small group, please get in touch to discuss.
